The Democracy Beyond Elections Coalition created this document to be used as a resource for organizations who are engaging, educating and connecting candidates to the practice of community-led decision making; It is meant to help inform candidate questionnaires with questions directly addressing participatory democracy principles and practices including ballot initiatives, citizens'(civic) assemblies, and participatory budgeting.

The Democracy Beyond Elections Coalition is dedicated to transformative participatory democracy rooted in community-led decision making that is accessible, equitable, and significant. We envision a world where people have direct decision-making power over the issues that affect their lives. Democracy Beyond Elections is a coalition of more than 20 partner organizations anchored by the Participatory Budgeting Project.
